I travelled for work all over Japan , the mountains, the country side, historic towns and districts, and back to the city. The discovery of the traditional melting with the future left such a profound mark on me. I remember the fashion so clearly, the designer outfits that were on the mannequins in the big department stores, the thrift shopping, I remember the girls dressing differently depending on the area and all the subcultures of young people expressing themselves in different ways.

Each subculture was like its own celebration of individuality and It forever made an impact on my style and the way I view fashion - as self expression, as armor, to have fun with, to identify with. So I wanted to shoot this drop in Japan, and share the idea of visual contrast, the fast paced city and the quiet, considered and traditional - things I built this collection around.
